Commitments that matter
Martha and Fleming McDaniel enjoyed 65 years of wedded bliss while building careers, growing a family and eventually traveling the globe as empty nesters.
But last summer when Fleming was hospitalized for emergency cardiac care, his daughters Kristy Thorsen and her sister, Kelly, discovered their mother had dementia and drastically deteriorated health. Their father had tried to care for his wife by himself — and tried even harder to keep it a secret.
When they enlisted a health care provider to assess Martha’s need for in-home care, the assessment stated she didn’t require any in-home support.
Frustrated and confused, Kristy reached out to OneAmerica Financial. Care Benefit Concierge Melissa Weslager answered her call — and provided Kristy and her family with steady compassionate support and the trusted guidance they needed needed throughout Martha’s long-term care journey.
