
Kim Thomas
Interim Chief Human Resource Officer and Head of Inclusion/Community Affairs
Kim Thomas serves as the interim chief human resources officer and head of inclusion/community affairs for OneAmerica Financial®. She has 30 years of experience in multiple industries including financial services, medical diagnostics, health insurance and commercial printing.
Since joining the companies of OneAmerica Financial in 2017, Thomas has led multiple teams, including several HR teams and corporate security. In her current role, she’s accountable for the organization’s HR function as well as the organization’s diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) strategy and community affairs. Over the course of her career with OneAmerica Financial, Thomas has been instrumental in driving several enterprise priorities including organizational effectiveness, the career and compensation framework, and business continuity planning during the onset of the pandemic. Thomas was named chief diversity officer in October 2020 and appointed to lead the community affairs team in early 2023, guiding a multimillion-dollar investment strategy for OneAmerica Financial and the OneAmerica Financial Foundation.
In 2020, Thomas was honored with an ASPIRE Award — the highest internal recognition possible for OneAmerica Financial associates — for Excellence in Execution in recognition of her outstanding contributions to making sustainable and significant impacts on organizational goals. Before joining the companies of OneAmerica Financial, Thomas spent 11 years as a strategic HR business partner at Anthem (now Elevance Health). Her career also includes seven years at Roche Diagnostics, where she was a member of the talent acquisition team and led the development of the organization’s diversity strategy.
Thomas earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial organizational psychology from Purdue University. She currently serves on The American College of Financial Services’ Center for Economic Empowerment and Equality advisory council and the Easterseals Crossroads board of directors as a member of the executive committee. Thomas also leads the Easterseals Crossroads’ strategic planning committee and the American Council of Life Insurers’ DEI forum.
In 2023, Thomas was named one of the Indianapolis Business Journal’s Women of Influence. In 2024, she was named one of Integrating Women Leaders 24 Game Changing Women in Indiana.
