Isaac P.

School: Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis

Major: Actuarial Science

OneAmerica Dept.: Individual Life and Financial Services - Finance

Why did you choose to spend your summer at OneAmerica? Because I liked the company, wanted exposure to actuarial science, and thought it would also be a good way to advance my career.

Describe OneAmerica culture in one word: Accepting

Best piece of advice you were given during your internship? Don’t be afraid to ask questions no matter what the situation is. This internship has helped me learn the benefit of that. As an aspiring actuary, general advice from the current actuary employees is invaluable.

What about your experience at OneAmerica would interest you in a future career here? There is a very open, collaborative environment here and is definitely something that I will be looking for in my future career. And the benefit packages are wonderful.

What tip would you give to those interviewing for internships next summer? Think through your resume before coming to the interview. Know more than what you have on paper and be able to articulate yourself in a deeper way and take your resume to another level. Dress well!

If your life had a theme song, what would it be?: "When a Heart Breaks" by Ben Rector

Favorite sports team: Chicago Cubs

If you could sit down to dinner with anyone, who would it be and why? (Cubs pitcher) Jon Lester because of his work within the childhood Leukemia community.
